FSX COMPATIBILITY

The big question now on peoples minds is, will all their hard earned software work in FSX, well so far it does look like a big no. Alot of you have the NGBoeing series and the bad news is that there will be no fix,
here is a clip from Robert S. Randazzo
Precision Manuals Development Group in their forums.

If anyone hears anything about other addons, please let me know, one I am keen to know about is MyTraffic, I could not be without it.
I have pre ordered FSX but it will be along time before I take out FS9.
All we can do is wait and see what happens with addon software.
Makes me wonder why companies such as PSS are still releasing FS9 aircraft such as the B777

Anyway, read on

As you may or (in the case of a few of you) may not have noticed, we are being expressly quiet about FSX and the compatibility of many of our product lines with FSX and/or FS9.

There is a very specific reason for our lack of comment, and it is legal in nature. The bottom line is that we are very limited as to what we can and cannot say regarding FSX at this time, and we'd rather not get into specifics that might accidentally get us or anyone else into trouble.

The following information is all that we can give you at this time:

-> The MD11 has been being developed as an FS9 based product, with the intent that an FSX compatible version will also be produced. Specific details of compatibility will have a lot to do with how FSX progresses, how the MD11 progresses, and about 20 other factors that I cannot discuss.

-> The NG series cannot be modified/updated/patched to make it compatible with FSX. We should fix that problem pretty quickly with the 737NGX product line, however that brings this three year old product line up to standards with all the new PMDG/FSX bells and whistles. The NGX product line is all new, and bears no relation to the existing NG product line.

-> The PMDG 747-400 series products are not compatible with FSX. You will have the opportunity to fly The Queen in FSX, however- and I cannot give you more details than this.

In the past, it's been traditional for developers to patch their most current products to make them compatible with the newer version of FS. I think you'll see some of this from the development community- but I should warn you that FSX is a bigger structural change than we've seen in 10+ years- so this is not a matter of changing a few lines of code. We already know that the 400 series product line will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 months of work done on it by the time you fly it in FSX. The implications of this haven't been fully considered- and as such I'm not going to give you any information on what/how/when, etc.

Yes folks- that is ALL I am allowed to tell you at this time. I would politely ask that you refrain from demanding specific details on FSX or our products relation to FSX- as we will be unable to answer most all of those questions for now.

Once we are able to talk more freely- we will, of course.

Continental Converts 12 Existing Boeing 737 Orders to 12 New Boeing 737-900ER Aircraft

First U.S. Carrier to Order the Newest Member of the Boeing Next-Generation 737 Airplane Family

HOUSTON, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced that it has converted 12 existing firm orders for Boeing 737 aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2008, into 12 new Boeing 737-900ERs. The new 737-900ERs are also expected to deliver in 2008.

Continental is the first U.S. carrier to order the extended-range twinjet that flies about 500 nautical miles farther than the existing 737-900.

"These new aircraft will have among the lowest operating costs in our fleet, allowing us to serve high demand markets more efficiently," said Larry Kellner, chairman and chief executive officer. "The new aircraft are part of our continued focus on fleet modernization, fuel efficiency and delivering the best product in the business."

Today's announcement for the new Boeing 737-900ER aircraft does not change Continental's firm commitments for new Boeing 737 aircraft. The carrier still has firm commitments for 65 Boeing 737s and has the ability to convert more of its existing Boeing 737 orders for the 737-900ER.

737-900ER Provides Efficiencies and Opportunities

Since announcing its fleet modernization program a decade ago, Continental has reduced the number of airplane types in its fleet from nine to three and reached its goal of operating one of the youngest and most efficient fleets among U.S. airlines. Its modern, fuel-efficient fleet provides a natural fuel hedge and gives the airline an advantage over its competitors. Since 1998, the company has improved fuel efficiency by nearly 25 percent per available seat mile as a result of several factors including fleet modernization, implementation of fuel-saving technology like winglets, and improved operating procedures.

The Boeing 737-900ER shares the same performance attributes of other Next- Generation 737s currently in Continental's fleet, giving the carrier greater efficiencies in pilot training, crew flexibility, simplified maintenance and savings on spare part inventory costs. The company has arranged backstop financing for the 737-900ER aircraft.

Continental will configure the 737-900ER with 20 first class seats, providing excellent capacity for complimentary OnePass frequent flyer upgrades. The coach cabin will carry approximately 153 passengers.

Continental Airlines Selects Chautauqua to Operate 44 Regional Jets

Continental Airlines  today announced that it has selected Chautauqua Airlines to provide and operate 44 regional jets as a Continental Express carrier beginning in 2007, under a new capacity purchase agreement.

Chautauqua, a subsidiary of Republic Airways Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq: RJET), will operate 50-seat regional jets on Continental's behalf, under the Continental Express brand. Continental will continue to schedule and market all of its Continental Express regional jet service.

"In selecting Chautauqua, we've identified a regional operator that can uphold our high standards for reliable, quality service, while delivering that service at competitive rates," said Continental Chairman and CEO Larry Kellner.

"We know the Continental team and are delighted to be a part of their network," said Bryan Bedford, chairman, president and CEO of Republic Airways Holdings, parent company of Chautauqua Airlines. "We look forward to providing excellent service to Continental and its customers."

In April 2006, Continental announced that Chautauqua would operate any of the aircraft that ExpressJet Airlines elected to return to Continental under the Continental-ExpressJet capacity purchase agreement. ExpressJet's decision to retain all 69 aircraft provided Continental with the opportunity to examine options for replacing the regional capacity provided by those aircraft. Chautauqua will supply the 44 aircraft that it will operate under the new capacity purchase agreement. Continental currently has no plans to replace 25 of the 69 50-seat regional jets retained by ExpressJet.

SkyTeam alliance members Continental Airlines and Alitalia today announced they are beginning codesharing to provide better service to passengers who travel between Italy and the U.S. and transfer between the two carriers.

Continental and Alitalia are two of the nine carriers who make up the SkyTeam alliance, which also includes Aeromexico, Air France, Czech Airlines, Delta, KLM, Korean Air and Northwest.

Effective immediately, Continental will place its code (CO*) on the following Alitalia flights: between Rome/Milan and Bari, Brindisi, Catania, Florence, Lamezia Terme, Naples, Palermo, Pisa, Trieste and Venice, Italy; between Rome and Bologna, Genoa, Reggio di Calabria, Turin and Verona, Italy; and between Rome/Milan and Tirana, Albania. These flights will connect with Continental's daily non-stop services between New York/Newark and both Rome and Milan.

At the same time, Alitalia will place its code (AZ*) on Continental flights between New York/Newark and 11 U.S. destinations -- Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland (Oregon), San Francisco and Seattle -- plus Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. These flights will connect with Alitalia's daily non-stop services between both Rome and Milan and New York/Newark.

Codesharing improves airline service by simplifying the booking process with electronic ticketing and communication of itinerary information between airlines. Customers traveling on connecting CO/AZ itineraries are able to have single check-in for all flights, including the issuance of boarding passes and checked baggage to their final destination. Additional codesharing routes are expected to be announced in the upcoming months.
